VAMPIRES

Undead. Immortal. Can't reproduce. Can turn with blood exchange.


WEAK AGAINST: wooden stake to heart, crosses and holy water, decapitation, sunlight, fire, werewolf bite (incurable)


ABILITIES: super strength/speed/reflexes/regenerative property, enhanced senses (esp eyes and ears), memory replacement

One powerful witch to create ornament/jewelry to protect against sunlight. Limited to clan leaders and their most trusted because it takes too much power from the witches.

*Extremely old vampires usually have one (as long as they're connected to a powerful witch of some kind)


WEREWOLVES

Omega/Beta/Alpha

Purebred vs Bitten

- Both can reproduce to make more weres. Or a bite.

Purebreds can shift into full wolves at will. Bitten weres need to take a long ass time before they can. They need to master how to control themselves during a Full Moon first. Normally, 20-30 years, depending on person. People with stronger will can master it within 15 years minimum whereas it can take ones with weaker wills up to 50 years. Until they can shift into full wolves, they're stuck in the normal half-human, half-wolf form.

Werewolves can live for thousands of years, but they MUST continuously shift.

- Shifting prolongs werewolves' lifespans, especially Pures. Pures can live up to the 1000+. Bitten weres can only live up to 500+ at most.

- Once werewolves stop shifting for an extended period of time, they begin to age like humans. Pures can last longer than bitten weres. Bitten weres can last up to 10-15 years, while Pures can last up to 50 years with very minimal shifting (3-4 times per year).

Weres can be turned into vampires, but they'll lose all werewolf abilities.

ABILITIES: super strength/speed/reflexes/regenerative property, enhanced senses (esp nose and ears), poisonous bite to vampires

WITCHES

Witches fall into two categories; learned and hereditary. Born witches have a natural advantage, they are stronger and their learning curve is much easier. Learned witches on the other hand, take years to master just certain spells but that does not mean they should be underestimated though, as they can still become very powerful and fearsome magic users.


The lore behind a witches magic is said to come from ancient haitian vodou priests and priestesses who traded their very souls for power. In actuality, they merely struck deals with the spirits on the other side for secrets to access and manipulate the deep energy in the earth. Practitioners eventually learned to capture spirits and use them to access more information, eventually embedding the magic into their very souls.


Most of the secrets learned from the vodouists is gone, lost or destroyed by various groups who feared the immense power they wielded. Although real, true vodou still exists very few are still practicing. A mere handful are still alive, most hidden from the world in an attempt to stay alive, others bound from doing magic by entire covens for fear of what they could do.


Modern witches are descendants of these people, the code to accessing magic written in their very DNA. Typically they will show signs of their lineage in the manifestation of a psychic power. After many years of practicing, learned witches will also manifest a power, but never more than two whereas a born witch can reach three separate psychic powers.


Psychic Powers:

Anyone can have psychic powers but very few really know what it means. A telekinetic can go their entire life without realizing the true nature of their power. Those who are taught to hone and enhance their powers are likely to become great magic users, but this is dangerous as many species are afraid of witches and the power they possess. There are four typical types of psychic powers that manifest, these are very powerful abilities and only born witches will be able to manifest two.


Precognition - The ability to see the future, this power is much more complex. Precognition is more like being able to see three different futures and picking the one most likely to occur. It is a very difficult power to learn and control, as it leaves the user tired and confused. Most aren’t able to see very far into the future, as the variables for a clear reading are astronomical. Many witches suffer from severe headaches as premonitions can happen at any time.


Empaths - The ability to influence, modify, transfer and implant emotions. Empaths are capable of shielding themselves from emotion, transferring it from one person to another or influencing the moods of others.They are also capable of finding people more easily, as the feel of each person's emotions are unique to them. Their powers are less complex, but require a great amount of energy after a while.


Telepaths - The ability to hear the thoughts of others. Most telepaths learn very quickly how to shut out or turn down the torrent of voices, those that do not; don’t last long. It takes a lot of focus for a telepath to pick out the right voice and the right thoughts. Although difficult to master, it uses very little magical energy.


Telekinetic - The ability to move objects with ones mind. Besides precognition, telekinetics have the hardest time really mastering their power as it requires an exceptional amount of energy and focus. They suffer from headaches if they use their power too often. This eventually dies down once the user begins to master their ability and is typically the trademark of a very powerful witch.


Learned and born witches will typically manifest more than one power, usually one will be the main four and the others minor, easier to control powers. Born witches can manifest two main powers and one minor or one main and two minor. Learned witches will only ever manifest two, the mark of a strong learned witch is the manifestation of a major power in addition to a minor. Typically, learned witches will only manifest minor powers.


Mediumship - The ability to see and communicate with the dead. Mediums always see the dead and can tell the difference between a spirit and a human. Sometimes they help the spirit crossover by encouraging them or helping with unfinished business.

Clairsentience - The ability to see the past, present or future of an object or a person. This particular power is very random, as the clairsentient will never truly know when they’ll see something and they are unable to turn it off.

Clairvoyance - The ability to know something as a fact, it can also be called lie detection. It should not be confused with precognition as clairvoyants don’t have visions. They simply know when something will happen, what will happen and if someone is lying to them.

Readers - The ability to read objects for information. Readers are sort of like fortune tellers, they don’t have visions but instead read specific events or look for answers to questions using various objects, i.e. dice, runes, tea leaves, palms etc. etc. Each method is different for each reader.


There are also two very, very rare types of psychics. They are known as dead zones and amplifiers and they are exactly what they sound like.


Dead zones will find that nothing magical, supernatural or out of the ordinary will happen to them. They nullify the powers of witches, weaken vampires, werewolves and all manner of supernatural beings. They are incredibly sought after for their power and some even killed for how dangerous they can be. The blood of a dead zone is extremely powerful and can be used for rituals to bind or weaken an enemy.


Amplifiers are the opposite, they will be haunted by spirits and constantly run into the supernatural. They amplify the powers of supernatural beings, making them stronger and more dangerous. Their blood is just as coveted as it will boost spells and enhance powers. A vampire will find that they are almost indestructible after drinking from an amplifier. Usually amplifiers are used to boost the powers and spells of witches but their ability can be dangerous as amplified magic can become incredibly unstable. If the witch in question is not strong enough to control it, the spell can collapse in on itself and kill the caster.


Should a dead zone and amplifier cross paths, any supernaturals within a reasonable distance will find their powers suddenly unstable and erratic. This can be jarring, scary and dangerous. Bitten werewolves will find they have an urge to shift, psychics and witches will lose control of their powers, vampires will feel an impending bloodlust and so on. The likelihood of this happening is low and most dead zones and amplifiers have a natural distaste for one another.


Magic:

While some might believe in the idea of white, grey or black magic, in reality magic is much more complex. Magic is powerful, it can come in spells or incantations or even meditation. The old rituals of the vodou priests and priestesses have long since been forgotten and most magic comes from within. Simple protective or defensive wards can be done easily, but the larger and more complex an idea the harder it will be for the witch to cast and maintain. Witches prefer to stay in covens, but can practice by themselves. Covens will be stronger, but require each member to be in tune with one another. Singular witches will have more stability but less power.


Vodou is still practiced and it is strong. A hereditary witches power comes from within, it’s a stronger link to ‘the other side’ where most magic comes from. Those that practice vodou connect with the other side directly and are <b>much more powerful</b> than any single witch or even coven. It is not advised to make an enemy of a vodou practitioner.


Anyone can learn magic except for vampires and werewolves, as they are already infected with a very powerful magic of their own.


Turning:

Witches are still humans and will live mortal, human lives. Prolonging life is rarely attainable and comes at a great sacrifice, as most magic does. Witches can be turned into werewolves or vampires but it is not advised for strong or older witches to do as such. When a practicing witch is turned they will lose all of their magic and this can be a very traumatic, even scarring event. They will feel as if they’ve lost something from deep inside them, like something is missing and eventually begin to go crazy, only very few have been known to survive the transition and they are never the same.


Non-practicing, natural witches (psychics) can be turned much more easily but it’s still a rough thing to go through and although they don’t go crazy, they will feel an emptiness for many years.
